The Workforce Innovations in Regional Economic Development (WIRED) initiative from the Department of Labor represents one of the most dynamic economic development initiatives to come out of the federal government in a generation.

We have been using the framework of Open Source Economic Development to guide the development of the WIRED initiative in North Central Indiana. Based on the success we have had, Ed Morrison traveled to Washington to present some of these concepts to the senior managers of the Department of Labor.
